I've hand this scanners for few with very little use, the display screen has failed Uniden charges $74.95  for repair, my question is it worth it or should just purchase a new one.

Thank You

fwiw the BC-125AT works much better than the BC-75XLT, better sensitivity, more 'normal' features. The pre-programming is awkward sometimes. These were from the era of targeting NASCAR crowda for more sales.

There's also a whole catalog of HAM and Industrial radios that can be used for the rail hobby, there are a number of discussion in the Railfan Tech board but it's not just one and done, lots to read and learn. There's also websites like https://www.scannermaster.com/Uniden_Bearcat_SDS200_Police_Scanner_p/10-502019.htm   to learn from.

There are many choices and options, but also a simple replacement with the BC-125AT, those work great for a lot of people.
