EB Loaded Coal on CSX at Tiffin, OH?
Author: zars

I took a trip Thursday from Huron to Fostoria, Ohio for a little train watching at the Railfan Park.  On the way, in the late morning, at Tiffin, Ohio, I caught a loaded coal train eastbound, going fast enough to throw coal dust into the air.  All CSX company hoppers and gons.  I have seen loaded coal trains going westbound many times, but never a loaded coal train going eastbound on the old B&O main.  I wondered where they might have loaded this coal and where it would be going.  Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is that it came off the old C&O at Fostoria on the South East connection.

Maybe one possibility is C885 loads at Alliance Coal  in Princeton, IN and goes to Toledo Dock, OH. Usually I hear C895 out of Alliance to Newport News, VA. Always in company hoppers. Go north to Terre Haute then east to Indy and I don't know where from there.

C885 wouldn’t be eastbound from Fostoria. If going to Toledo Docks.
This coal train would be something that normally runs the Indy line to Greenwitch. Then on to the former B&O. Lack of crews may have sent via Fostoria
