So, is that the ex-Pennsy line from Harrisburg to Pittsburg?

Yes, it is the historic mainline of the PRR.

Alex, I was looking at the links and wondering if it was taken with the 10D. Just doesn't appear to have locked in on 2607 either time. Maybe a slower shutter speed was being used?

Seen the 10N this afternoon at the Cassandra lookout. Got good video of him grinding upgrade there!

It wasn't shutter speed that was the problem (1/500), or the camera (Canon 10D), it was the photographer.
So, I was on my way to work, crossing that bridge, and there was the 10N coming at me. I was lucky I got anything salvageable considering I'm still learning the camera. I got the exposure I wanted at the cost of less-than-perfect focus.

For Scott's benefit, here is a 1:1 (actual pixels) version of the NS at Ardara shot.
The AF was OK on this shot, but I must not have sharpened after resizing.

I was figuring a digital camera had autofocus like anything else made by Canon. That should have zeroed in perfect on the unit, but then, I'm not the digital king...

Well, no. Autofocus isn't perfect, and neither am I. The Canon AF has "automatic focus point selection", which at this location likes to focus on the tracks in the foreground. Many folks who use autofocus will manually select the center focus point, and set the focus "auto-manually". This is the technique I've been trying for the last couple of weeks. I'm still learning the camera...

Sounds a little tough! No problems with the Elan 7... ;-)

The 10D, D60 & Digital Rebel all have autofocus just like all the other Canon EOS SLR's.
And it's just as easy to use and works great.
I think Alex is just using it in a semi-automatic mode by his own choice.

I have an Elan 7 also. The AF is the same. I would prefer to manual focus my lenses, but the lenses I have are the less-expensive jobs that don't do very well fully-manual; it's very easy to knock them out of focus.
Full auto doesn't always work well for me, because I can't see which focus point was selected (the blinking LED's aren't bright enough), and it doesn't always choose the right focusing point. When I'm not in a hurry, my preference is to manually select the focus point.
