X384 with an ex SP lashup
Author: CSX_CO

X384 left Garrett, In last night around 0030. On the point was UP 3993, a SD70M still in SP paint. The 2nd unit was a CSX 7848, and then the 'cool' stuff began.

The train had 7 ex SP tunnel motors and SD45's. All retired, all looking as if they've spent sometime in East LA (graffitti, windows shot out, etc). Numbers might be wrong as the units were 'white lined' and most had had their numberboards destroyed.

SP 9239
SP 6882
SP 7488 (SD45)
SP 9388
SP 6803
SP 7444
SP ####

I don't know where these are headed. Being on a 384, I'd hazard a guess as to LTEX out in Ohio, but possibly to a scrapper?

Good luck Willard and east.

Practice Safe CSX

Nice catch, probably off to pasture at LTE. Are you working Garrett or just down there fanning?

Thanks for the heads up. Shot this train on "the hill" in town (Akron) about 6pm. Fighting the clouds, but the sun came out just in time. That last unit was SP 6886, and you were not kidding about the units looking trashed! Again, thanks!

I will say one thing. On a recent trip to Willard. The engine facility was quite a colorful place. Throw in the power of this X-384 along with two Rio Grande units with a WL&E in between off of the Wheeling and, a Santa Fe hooked to a Burlington Northern. Also the Ashland Railroad was waiting to get in the yard. Let alone all the rent a wrecks and CSX units.
