Ellwood City Tunnel repairs
Author: OscarManheim

I have heard that the B&P has hired a contractor to repair the "cave-in" of the Ellwood Tunnel (on the P&W Sub in Western PA, ex-B&O) and they are now working on the project, estimated time of about two more weeks to complete. Once finished, operations will return to the norm with the B&P running directly into New Castle to interchange with CSX. However, there's still some short time to catch "through" train action on the east End of the old P&W sub between Glenwood and Edinau as CSX/B&P traffic is still being routed New Castle-Demmler-Glenwood-Edinau (then to Butler and points North) as construction work is underway. I hope this might influence some folks to photograph what might be the last of the real tonnage trains over Bakerstown Hill.

Updates/corrections/more info welcome on this subject, of course!

Manheim,
Cumberland
