Nice executive catch on dreary day in PA!

Original BN Executive SD70 9684 and a NS C39-8 leads Q217 west through Fairhope, PA yesterday. Decided yesterday to take a short day trip up to Cumberland and the Sandpatch grade.

Made excellent time from Fairhope to Mance since the Q217 had a helper. Was set up for a shot at Mance but here comes a unknown eastbound. So I made the best of the situation.

Got to Sandpatch in time since he was setting off the helper. Several fans were in attendance. Busy day for fans and trains on the grade!

Interesting- saw Q217 come through Shenandoah Junction at about 7:30 yesterday morning. There was a CSX engine in back of the C39- I'm guessing they set it off at Cumberland. What time did you see it at Mance?

Were you the guy wearing the Sox hat at Sand Patch yesterday? I was the one with the dark-colorad plaid jacket.

The "unknown eastbound" you saw at Mance was Q641-22, I got him at Manila.
