A few more from Easter weekend near Rochelle
Author: Mgoldman

Oregon, IL

It went like this....
Got here just after 10 AM and nothing till maybe 2 PM.
Then having had my goals on a Northbound (West?) I hear the horns -
It's going South (East).
But wait! It's pulling into the siding! Something is comming at me!
Nope, it's another Northbound passing!
And 10 minutes later... Another.
Then finally near 2:45 or so I got my shot.

BTW - what is the normal, non-Easter, traffic on this line - I was surprised how quiet the line was last weekend (Easter). It seems it gets all clustered with long lulls in between.

Thanks for sharing!
The uncropped shot of the NS is better - it is not as "crowded." Just my feedback 'cause you asked. :-)
Pretty colors on those containers in that first shot with the green BN in the lead.

Mitch,

BNSF's Aurora Sub ("C&I") is pretty hot/cold. Mornings and late afternoons are best as that's when the fleets show up. EB in the Morning and WB in the afternoon. The mid-day hours can be hit and miss as you experienced. I spent last Saturday in Savanna and had a great couple hours around noon. The bonus with Savanna is the addition of Barstow Sub traffic and the views along the Mississippi River.
