Eastern Railroad Discussion > Pottstown areaDate: 05/30/05 18:10 Pottstown area Author: HB90MACH in Pottstown there is a bridge that crosses over the river a couple of yards west of where route 100 crosses. Its not listed in steam power, and nobody knows anything about it.
the other question is the east penn line, where in boyertown does it end? can the locos be photographed? thanks HB90MACH Date: 06/01/05 06:03 Re: Pottstown area Author: Gonut1 The bridge was a lead from the Pennsy to an industry (foundry?)on the west bank of the Schuylkill. It was last used by a track equipment sales company in the early 1970's. They actually had a test loop around their building for "test driving" the equipment they sold. It was visible from Rte 422 but is now long gone although the building is still there.
The East Penn ends in a small yard and passing siding in downtown Boyertown. It is easily accessed and photography of the loco can usually be done from public property. On occasion the loco can be hidden between the covered hoppers (plastic pellets)that are delivered there.
