Well, on a very hot day(105 on my truck at its height), the Brandywine Valley RY became a fallen flag and the East Penn RY came alive. The East Penn took over the north south segment of the Brandywine Valley RY from Elsmere Jct, Delaware to Coatesville, PA today 7/27/05 at 12:01am. I had allot of good times with the Brandywine but like its predecessor railroads(Delaware Valley and Octararo) it too has moved on. ISG Plate did not want to be in the shortline business so they sold it to the East Penn RY, the highest bidder. Those black GP's were tiring out and its nice to see some new power, those ex SP B30-7's. Here's few pictures from the BVRY's last days and the EPRY's first day.

Picture below. The Thurday prior to the last day, The BVRY brought down one of its new SW1500's they just purchased. (they are rebuilt) They got 2 total. BVRY #1022 stretches its legs for the ONLY time on the road as it heads for a life of mill switching.

This was the BVRY's last run south bound on Monday. They wait for the signal into CSX's Wilsmere Yard.

EPRY gets the SP units ready. They were sandblasted and painted into EPRY's "amish" paint scheme. They were fully serviced and prepped. I was there when they were load testing one of the B30-7's. They sound great.

The 3rd B30-7 begins its rehab process with the beginnings of a sand blast session.

EPRY shows up at CSX's Wilsmere Yard today at 3pm and awaits the signal for the first time. Uboats elephant style. The units ran well on their first trip.

EPRY drops off the connection track into the yard. Party on the porch as the new recruits abandon the hot cab for a front view coming into the yard. First day of school.

GM Don Richard of the BVRY engineers the 2nd to the last run in brand new BVRY SW1500 northbound. Don was the prior GM of the Octararo Ry and Delaware Valley RY. Don is a first class act and an excellent railroader. Safety first. Take care Don and good luck. :)

Regarding the repainting of EPRY/SP units:

What will they do with the SP B23-7 they just shipped up to Quakertown? Do they have facilities to strip and paint these or can they do it anywhere? In this day and age, you would think that this would have to be done in a controlled environment.

Do you know how many ex-SP B30-7s are on the East Penn?

3 ex SP B30-7's on new line(only 2 are operational) and 1 ex SP B23-7 pictured below which went to Quakertown, PA.
