It appears to be a B-30? Any info? Date: 08/05/05 19:06 Re: 2 WC locos @ Shenandoah Jct Author: holiwood The second WC loco cought us by surprise, I didn't get a good photo, so I tried for Sheperdstown, but could't get a shoot. Off to Hagerstown and saw at Vardo.

Holiwood Date: 08/05/05 19:37 Re: Over and under @ Shenandoah Jct Author: onthecoast If I'm not mistaken, that CSX trackage there is now BBRR. Is CSX running through on that line, or is BBRR leasing locomotives, or how does that stack up now?
With that many over/unders, there must be more traffic than in the past (or you're lucky)! Date: 08/05/05 20:11 Re: Over and under @ Shenandoah Jct Author: holiwood onthecoast Wrote:

BBRR leased Mountain Sub from CSX, that runs from near Richmond, VA (not sure where it starts) to Clifton Forge, WVA. That was old C&O. Line through Shenandoah Jct is old B&O Main line, Baltimore to Cumberland. Lots of CSX on this line, with Amtrack and MARC. NS runs about 20 trains a day. I was very lucky with over and unders today. CSX runs trains on BBRR and kept James River line, which also goes from Richmond to Clifton Forge, but is not as steep. I do not understand that whole deal. Great catch!!!!!
Jeff Hawkins Date: 08/06/05 02:47 Re: BBRR Author: mderrick Buckingham Branch has leased the ex C&O Piedmont, North Mountain, and Washington Subs from CSX. Trackage begins at AM Junction in Richmond and heads north then west, crossing CSX RF&P Sub at Doswell, VA, then west to Clifton Forge, VA via Gordonsville and Staunton.
BB is handling all local switching work plus some rock trains from the Verdon quarry just west of Doswell (these run with CSX power), while CSX retains overhead rights and operates westbound empties (coal, grain, occasional sulfur) over the leased trackage, to the tune of around 4 trains a day. Amtrak 50/51 still ply the line from Orange to Clifton Forge. BB locals are based at Doswell, Charlottesville, and Staunton. If anyone is interested in following their operations or learning more than I've touched upon, check out my BBRR Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BBRR . We've got a lot of good folks that live along the line that keep up with sightings and current operations. Just about fell out of my chair when I saw the Central Michigan U23B. Didn't even need to see Dave's full unit shot, and focused on 8904 before the WC even! But then again, what do you expect from a shortline nut?!? BTW, which way was she headed and on what train? Thank you for posting! Mike Derrick http://www.shortlinesusa.com Date: 08/06/05 07:53 Re: 8904 Author: myoungwisc That is one of the strangest power lash-ups I've ever seen! FOrget the old WC stuff...what ar CM units doing out there?
Martin Date: 08/06/05 12:04 Re: 8904 Author: ddavies Date: 08/07/05 14:55 Re: 8904 Author: mderrick One thing to mention, in reference to Telus' info above, the CM is technically no more, having been fully absorbed into the Huron & Eastern (HESR) system by RailAmerica. So, that makes the catch even that much better.
Still would like to know where this one is headed if anyone finds out or sees a waybill. Thanks! Mike Derrick http://www.shortlinesusa.com |
