T beat me to it. Specifics: westbound entering the yard at RU Cabin taken from the RRYMCA parking lot. Mmmmmm, lots of yummy meals in that place.

you mean GP39's? The ex-RDG GP39-2's are mostly based out of the Tampa FL area.
Russell KY has the ex-C&O GP39/slug combos there :)

My fondest memory at Russell was shortly after finishing a fine meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and fresh baked yeast rolls. I went out on the front porch of the "Y" to chat with some friends and we listened to N&W 1218 pass through Ironton across the river. That "hooter" whistle sounded great!

When the rail gang was stationed in the Russell yard, which it was in both 1983 and 1984; I and many others would abandon the camp kitchen car and eat at the Y. My fondest memory of the Russell Y was, after their delicious meals or course, going downstairs and watching the participants in the Jazzercize classes held in the basement.

I just love Russell, and I am just lucky enough to live in Russell! Well Ashland, but almost Russell. I have some other pics, but Don't want to post them because it would turn into a photo album.
