Eastern Railroad Discussion > KCS ex CSX Boxcar question

I don't come onto this board that much, so sorry if this question has already been asked.

I work for a railroad in Los Angeles, CA. Today while at work I was switching cars in the yard, and noticed a blue boxcar, with a yellow KCS patch. After looking over this big 60' Boxcar, I could not help but notice that it had a "Big Blue" and "CSX", both patched over. Was wondering why CSX would sell off such a new car (it had a build date of 2000!). Or was it just leased to CSX originally?
