GE four axle list for HO (draft)
Author: funnelfan

I'm not too keen on GE models, and you should be able to find a few that I missed. But here is a rough draft of a GE four axle list (remember that this is a diesel list, no electrics):

23TON: Grandt Line (boxcab)
25TON: Grandt Line
44TON: Bachmann, Keystone
65TON: Kitbash from above
70TON: Bachmann
90TON: Kitbash from above
U18B: Major kitbash from below
U23B: New Atlas (coming)
U25B: Stewart
U28B: Athearn
U30B: Athearn
U33B: Athearn
B23-7: Spectrum, RPP Shell/Chassis
B30-7: Kitbash from above
B30-7A: Same as B23-7
B30-7AB: Kitbash from B23-7 w/ Smokey Valley kit (if you can find it)
B36-7: Bachmann
BQ36-7: Bachmann
B32-8: Kitbash from RPP C32-8 shell on B40-8 chassis
BW32-8PH: Walthers (Amtrak unit)
B39-8: Walthers, RPP, New Atlas (coming)
B40-8: Walthers, RPP, New Atlas (coming)
BW40-8: Walthers

Nice list so far, but allow me to allow a couple of additions/corrections:

BQ36-7: No such locomotive! I think you're referring to the FL BQ23-7. Main difference between a B23 and B30/36 series unit is the number of tall access doors for the prime mover; B23-7, BQ23-7, and B30-7A(B) have six tall access doors per side to access the 12-cylinder prime mover, while B30/36-7 have eight tall access doors per side to access the 16-cylinder prime mover. IIRC, the Bachmann BQ23-7 has the correct door arrangement.

B30-7 - Another method to kitbash the B30-7 is to take an Atlas C30-7 body, remove the air intake section just behind the first door behind the cab, re-splice the shell back together, and mount this to the RPP B23-7 walkway. Relatively easy, and the Atlas shell has better and more accurate detailing than the RPP shell.

Overall a good list, thanks for the effort. Here's hoping Atlas does the B23-7 and B30/36-7 in HO!

Lionel made one of these back in the 70's. It had a wide hood, but
didn't look too bad. Even had a GE motor inside :)

Well, technically, the U23B has been out for quite some time. they've
just got another run of new schemes coming out.

Also an early phase U28B is done by Stewart (same body as a U25B)

U36B is virtually identical to Athearn's U33B (which is a later model
U33B)

Bachmann only makes a B23-7, even though they paint some of them up
with road #'s for B30's and call them B30-7's (CSX and Chessie comes
to mind, even though they could do them correctly as B23-7's in CSX,
but don't)

BQ23-7 actually, not 36-7. Not available anymore, but still can be
found if you look hard enough :)

Wrote a comment on the B30-7A(B) and accidentally posted it on your 6-axle list. Rather than retype, I'll just refer all to my deathless prose over there...

We're all getting punchy, here--time to go back to my birdwatching!

What birds?
Author: funnelfan

Winston, what bird in his right mind would be out in this weather. The only kind of "bird" watching you can do this time of year is of pissed off drivers as they gesture each other.
Please don't take this too seriously, it's all in good fun.
