Atlas Montana Rail Link SD35 paint match

Hey guys,

I am putting a low nose on my HO scale Atlas MRL SD35 and need a close paint match for the color that Atlas used for the blue. The Model Master blue angel blue is a little too bright and Pollyscale ATSF blue has too much of a purple look to it compared to the Atlas color. Any suggestions?

Well Dave, err MRL_F45, based on the colors we looked at yesterday, I would do a custom mix to get it right. Try mixing a minute amount of black into the ATSF blue to get rid of that purple. Or, you could just repaint the whole engine. Hmmmm I know of another resident in your house who is just begging for another modeling project.

Well Chris, err, warbonnet, we tried that once but apparently we used to much black so we're gonna try again with just a tiny bit of it.

Model Fles has a midnight blue color in their automotive line of paints. Also check out their CSX blue. (Not the Dark Future color)

Polly Scale has a nice BAR blue that is brighter than the ATSF blue.
