Model Railroading > why the diference in number brd number size

my guess is something happened to the front (or rear) that required the numberboards
to be replaced. It doesn't matter if they don't match, as long as it has them. Many times
on CSX, you'll see two different styles on the same end. Incidently, whoever submitted
the 2nd picture labeled the engine wrong, since it's an SD40-2, not an SD40.
Also, these units, at one time, when they were in UP paint (with a red GT logo, before
GTW repainted them blue and red) the numberboards had red numbers!

Of the 8 units that GTW has, 5 are in CN paint and they all had the smaller number boards at one time.

Here is a unit I just shot today where the front numberboards do not match....even the colors are reversed between them!
