F7's this summer. Re-releases are getting a mechanism makeover to resolve gearing of the month issues. Don't know if that applies the the SD7 and RS-2 which are due this fall.

Speaking of gearing of Proto 2000 I have a FA-1 with a gear problem. Iknow this has been on in the pass, but can anyone stear me to gear replacements or something as one truck appears to have excesive play and the gear pops in and out?

Thanks

You do know that they are being manufactured and distributed by Walthers? The catalog is showing the F units and a few others in the old line, no sign of SD7's or SD9's last time I looked. Curious how they work out, same chassis or what?

Do a search on "proto 2000 sd7" at the Walthers site and the new SD7 release (10/07) will come up.

Aside from all the old stuff that they just keep re-releasing, it would really be nice if Walthers would turn the P2K guys loose and have the create a new diesel engine model.

From my perspective, they had great recreations of the SD60M, it would be nice to see them do some new 70MACs or GP40-2's.

I love how heavy those things are and how well they can haul.

I totally agree. For my bucks, they make the best all-around RTR HO locos available.

IIRC, you can use Athearn gears as a direct replacement. This topic has appeared a couple of times on the Atlas discussion group.

Folks;

NWSL is making a replacement gear for PK2 axles as well. Machined delrin..not injection molded. They are a bit expensive..but look good.

Amen Brutha! Hmm.. or a decent low-nosed RSD12 or hmm.. a C415 would be cool too.

Cheers,
Harry
