laser level for track alignment hint
Author: kcjonz

Hi. Just wondered if anyone else has used their "Strait Line" brand of laser level for track alignment ? I found that if you rest the level on your existing track , line up the laser on two existing nail holes , you can shoot a indefinite length line and lay perfectly straight track. Just thought I'd pass it along for what it's worth.

I would be interested in learning about laser levels while constructing layouts. I have a rotating laser level I used for another home project, but until I read this post, I never considered it as a layout tool! I am now a AARP montly flyer recipient and suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Stuff).

That's a heck of an idea. Problem is, for my prototype (South Side Chicago industrial), the tracks are rarely straight.

Works great, especially in areas where the straightness can not be checked visually, such as hidden staging areas.
