Model Railroading > advice on n scale big boy con cor or athearn

I need some advice, I have 2 concor UP big boys and I was wondering with word of the new big boy from athearn getting close to being sold out would it be worth e-baying the con cors for the athearn? Thanks

The Athearn is a better model only problem is the MRC decoder that comes in them, once the MRC decoder is replaced it is a very nice running model.....Joe

I am assuming we are talking N scale here, if so they have not been released yet. You have to wonder if the "sold out" is just a marketing ploy or not. I think you would be better off, again if we are talking N scale, with the Athearn than the Con Cor, if nothing else because of the technology and detail.

I'm not buying that they are "sold out". There are plenty to be had. Yes talking N-scale. They are not out yet but I have to assume that they will be as nice as the Challenger which is a very a nice loco once the MRC decoder has been removed and replaced.......Joe

What decoder did you replace it with? Was it a sound type?
