Good morning, I am looking for pics or link to of the original Peabody RS-3 paint scheme in the all cream with the bursting green stripes, any one help would be very appreciated

There are a couple of shots on page 84 in the book "Alco - Official Color Photography" by Walter A. Appel. This is a Morning Sun book that came out about 10-12 years ago - it's a great book as far as Alco's are concerned. I remember Peabody having RS-2's, not sure about the RS-3's.

Maybe Alco Historic Photos has a color builder photo? They do have a catalog and maybe a listing on line?


Also, IIRC there is a color photo in a past Classic Trains but right now am not sure which issue. It could have been in the special diesel issue that covered the transition from steam to diesel.

Another photo on the top of page 48 in the book "Trackside with 'Mr. Alco' George W. Hockaday" from Morning Sun. This book is less than a year old & is another collection of some great Alco photography.
