HO Scale BN B30-7A B unit chassis question
Author: grandeguy

Hello,

I have a question regarding what chassis would be proper for a BN B30-7A B unit shell built out of what I think is a RAILPOWER shell. Any help is much appreciated.

If its a Railpower, you can use Athern's "old school" U /B frame.

I am using a Overland B23-7 repower chassis with the FB2 trucks. I will also be using some Atlas B30-7 chassis. I will convert the shells into B30-7A's and have a great drive sysytem also. Hope thos helps some. Glenn Hoover

I second that, fits like a glove, you need only remove the front keeper pegs.

I went out on a limb and bought a Atlas B30-7 and will hopefully get this shell to fit.

The Atlas B30-7 is a much better shell than the RPP. I'd certainly not throw that Atlas shell away, but instead, wait to order a B23-7 long hood from Atlas directly for your cabless B30-7A for your conversion.

Go with Harry's suggestion...The B30-7A is really a B23-7 with a 3000 HP engine in it...it has the same power assembly doors as a B23-7...my advice would have bee the same as Harry's.

Just throw the Railpower shell in the trash.

Hello,

Well I have options. The shell is already modified to the second version with the dynamic brake box on it and all the grills in place plus the pilots are all detailed and the handrail stanchions are in place. I bought a Atlas B30-7 in CSX colors for reasonable money (70.00) and am going to see how my almost complete shell will mate up to the chassis. I have to much work and money into the shell to toss it. If the Atlas underframe will not fit I will go the Athearn frame route. Thanks for the input.

Regards, Dave Dane
