I am not a big fan of the F units but that is a very sharp engine...

Nice shots, Franz, of my favorite road! I don't know whose GP35 that is, but the paint used is incorrect - that is the "old blue", versus that which is on your new "F7", which the Geep should have as well.

Athearn did a SUPER job on those Genesis "F Units".

Thanks for sharing your images here,

Bob

Great model and photos, the effect of the backdrop is great. The trees in the foreground and the flat backdrop make the subject 'pop'.

Bob,

it a relatively new Athearn RTR GP35.

I bought it some two years ago.

I' m not very familiar with
the various shades of Wabash's blue....but I hoped the GP35's paint
would match the prototype....nonetheless thanks for this information.

F.

My Dad, Terry Cook, supplied Athearn with the prototype shots of the Wabash F's for use in the making of this model.

Here's the site I put together of the scanned 35mm slides for Athearn's use...

I thought these models came out very nice. They did sell well apparently...I checked Horizon Hobby's availability on them last weekend and maybe one of the DCC-Sound sets was still in stock...the rest were all sold out already.

Would love to see the Proto 2000 Alco PA-1 done in solid blue Wabash!

Thanks,

Tony Cook

So were the plates on the ladder wells normal for Wabash units, or were they something that were in place for storage, and were left on the model by mistake? ... Also the covered windows... looks almost like a model of a dead line unit the way it's configured.
