Model Railroading > Sunday Photo Fun 10/18/09Date: 10/18/09 07:41 Sunday Photo Fun 10/18/09 Author: DMIR230 Well here it is another Sunday;
I finished up a very classy Penn Central E8. It started its life as a Proto unit that was factory painted for the Southern. I think it looks much better now in the former Pennsy paint, but that's just me. I weathered up two more Athearn FP45's after adding a few extra details. This time around it was numbers 1 and 5. Then I did a little experiment. Replacing the incorrect BLI truck sideframes with Proto's correct E8/9 sideframes. This project didn't turn out all that bad and went easier than I thought it was going to be. I like the results, and plan on doing the two A units. Happy Modeling. Here are a couple projects I completed this weekend during the Fort Wayne NMRA regional convention. Tangent PS4740 for Bunge Corp. and and IMRC 4750 for ICG. -Ryan Date: 10/18/09 08:41 Re: Sunday Photo Fun 10/18/09 Author: BN7149 Date: 10/18/09 08:50 Re: Sunday Photo Fun 10/18/09 Author: drgwguy Nice work by everyone above! I like the Pennsy unit better too!
Here are my submissions: 1-2 : These are both Genesis models factory painted. One of the units, 9640, is a dummy, that my friend wanted as a DPU. He found some photos with an EOT device on this particular unit, so his wish is my command. DW MAC detail kits were used, as well as a few other DW and DA parts. Weathering is airbrush and powders. 3 : Here's a few, that I've done for him, from his fleet.....8814, is a Kato, that began life undecorated. I mixed the paint, painted, decaled, etc..... Date: 10/18/09 09:02 Re: Sunday Photo Fun 10/18/09 Author: bxmoore Here's three Bachmann consolidations that I've knocked into some hopefully closer approximations of SP power: 2865, 2829 and 2760. Yes, there's a lot of compromise, but it allows me to have a small, capable fleet of the type of locomotive that was so common in the early-to-mid 1950s. "Close enough", until either my budget can afford brass, or we get something nearer to what an SP 2-8-0 really looks like in plastic...

I really like the way you've "grungied" them up!
DMIR230: I love the chipped paint on the noes of the Politically Coreect unit...Penn Central unit! Ryan: Nice hoppers! How did you do the fade on the IC one? PHL I'm working on a few Utah Railway units... Paul Liddiard Spanish Fork, UT Date: 10/18/09 10:31 Re: Sunday Photo Fun 10/18/09 Author: BN7149 Paul,
The fading on the ICG orange hopper was achieved by using an opaque yellow color of gouache that was then dabbed onto the car with make-up sponges. the gouache was thinned using windex. The lettering was faded with a "Nick-Sander" prior to the first coat of weathering. After applying the fade, the logo and ribs were cleaned to represent a photo of a similar car, and then the car was dullcoated. A final application of rust streaks was also done with gouache and windex and the model sealed once more with dullcoat. Thanks for the complinents! -Ryan Date: 10/18/09 10:35 Re: Sunday Photo Fun 10/18/09 Author: redneck4449 well here is my post and there my lovely sd9 the kodachrome is a team effort between me and drgwguy and the grey and scarlet is one of my own brass that i did repairs on and fixed and touched up the paint. ive been trying to specialize in fixing brass

Thanks for the compliments - I do indeed have a Photobucket site, on which I dabble. There's other images on it too, but it's mostly HO trains - club and home layout, plus some conversion stuff - set out in several galleries/sub-albums. http://s.127.photobucket.com/albums/p143/bxmoore/ Happy days.
