Model Railroading > Model Railroad Open Houses DE - MD - PA - NJ

I coordinate the Model Railroad Openhouse Schedule for Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We will have 104 layouts open this year in November. Most scales represented. I've always loved seeing pictures of your layout, but I also like to see how neat/organized your trainroom is. It looks clean and organized. The drop down ceiling and trim really help to focus attention towards the layout. Nice work!

Great looking layout! I love how you have prototype photos and professional-looking plaques identifying locations - I think it really adds to a layout when a person has modeled a specific prototype location and has photos there showing how they recreated the scene in miniature. How much does it cost to get plaques like that made?

Also, I see in the edge of photo #2 what looks to be a video camera hanging from the ceiling. I'm curious - do you have some sort of monitoring system set up for a dispatcher to see things away from where they are in the layout, or is it just a "for fun" type of thing when you're operating by yourself?

I've been tempted to use a similar type of camera system on my layout, but more to give an "in scene" viewpoint to the observer rather than a birds-eye view that is typical.

There are 2 video cameras monitors in use and each one has 3 cameras connected although they can have 4 total. They are older Radio Shack security monitor systems that I picked up cheap on Ebay. They work great. Both setups are for Philly and Baltimore's yardmasters as there are several spots they cannot see without walking abit. Both of these yards are fairly large. I considered a video system for the Dispatcher as he has his own office with a door but have not done it yet. If I do, it will be IP based. Thanks again.

The buildings were built up using an architectural product designed years ago for Architects to make models of sky scrapers. I have not seen this product for years.
