Model Railroading > Tropicana ReefersDate: 01/10/11 23:25 Tropicana Reefers Author: SantaFeRuss Anyone make a modern version (2005 or newer) of the Tropicana cars CSX runs out of Florida in HO? Also, what about the Burlington Northern Santa Fe reefers like the one below. I think these are the high-cube 60 footers. Thanks for any answers.
SantaFeRuss Date: 01/11/11 05:11 Re: Tropicana Reefers Author: drolsen Russ - No, there are no models available of the Tropicana reefers (built by Millennium Rail) or the BNSF cars. It _might_ be possible to kitbash one up the coming ExactRail or BLMA AMRN (UP) reefers into a stand-in model, but it would probably take a lot of work. The UP and BNSF cars are a couple feet taller than the Tropicana cars.
EDIT: Here's a good photo from the RR Picture Archives showing a Tropicana car coupled to an ARMN (UP) car that really illustrates the height difference: TPIX 3365: http://rr.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1048309 You might have to cut and paste the link to your browser. I believe the Tropicana cars are 2 feet lower than the ARMN cars. Dave Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/11/11 19:11 by drolsen. Date: 01/12/11 20:34 Re: Tropicana Reefers Author: video7105 |
