Model Railroading > Kansas City Southern coach 274Date: 01/24/12 13:04 Kansas City Southern coach 274 Author: ATSF3751 This is KCS coach 274 under construction using a Rapido body. A final finish coat of gloss black will be applied today. The interior will be complete with correct terrazzo tile floor, appropriate seating, interior walls, and dark green tinted windows. Wall colors are a guessing game since I have not been able to locate any color photos. The seat colors were a mix of dark and light tan with black armrests. These cars, built for KCS by Pullman Standard in 1965 and the last long distance coaches for any private road, had interiors which could best be described as a "hall of mirrors". Mirrors were on both the end bulkheads, as well as the pier panels. Not sure what was on the ceiling. Maybe these cars were the inspiration for the song "Hotel California"?
