Some UP double-stacks to help start your weekend...
Author: MrMRL

Just a few photos of a UP powered stack train I ran around the club layout Friday night. Testing out my recently acquired InterMountain GE on the point, UP 5455. The rest of the power consists of the rest of the UP fleet (minus an ex Rio GrandeT-Motor...); UP 5809 (Kato AC4400CW), UP 8325 (Athearn Genesis SD70ACe), UP 9564 (Kato Dash-9). The stacks were a mix of Walthers, Kato and Atlas 53' wells, plus a pair of Athearn RTR 56' wells.

The domestic boxes are a garden variety of contemporary shippers from Athearn, InterMountain, and Atlas. I really need to get some green EMPs in there to mix it up even more... I try not to go too crazy with The Borg, I just get that itch every now and then.

Photos also added to my pbase site...

EXCELLENT! Rare to see modern intermodal on here, so it's a treat.
Nice mix of power and containers. As you mentioned, some green EMP's would complete it. UP seems to be mixing just about every carrier (for UP service) into their domestic stack trains. You have white EMP's in there too?

Heck, I only got one 48' Walthers EMP box. I need many, many more...

I think you're doing good work, not sure because I'm waiting for my eyes to uncross looking at that
curved double slip crossover thing in the last picture. Yikes!

Hey, I run my UP in a more perfect world. Well, not that perfect... Red sill stripes would probably be more perfect to some, but I don't mind the yellow stripes.

Why Athearn ran white EMP Stoughton containers one time when those models first came out ~11 years ago and has never run them again (except for the long-defunct Schneider Optimodal versions) remains one of life's great mysteries.

Congrats for outstanding photos on an outstanding layout! I bet a Centennial/Fast Forty/Centennial set would really look cool running on there too!

Green Hub Group containers wouldn't hurt either if you can't find the EMP ones. Earl..

Ya know its funny.

We see a dirty weathered up set of units out trackside and think-
"how discuesting - Don't they have any pride!"

And when we see a nice clean set of units running around a layout -
Oh they suck, they are way to clean - dirty them up and then some - LOL!

As they say in the NFL - "Auh, come on guys."

They look great MrMRL!

I like em just the way they are with plenty of Corporate Pride,

Gary
