Model Railroading > Intermountain photo's of body updates for NS AC GEVO'sDate: 02/07/13 04:55 Intermountain photo's of body updates for NS AC GEVO's Author: brfriedm Intermountain released preproduction photo's for the upcoming NS Heritage GEVO's they have coming. They essentially show the changes made to the current tooling to represent the later AC GEVO as delivered and used for the NS Heritage AC GEVO's. These units are due in June and list prices will be $179.95 (DCC/DC) and $279.95 with Tsunami sound. No foobie junk for me.

These run very nicely, have LED lighting, come from the factory with a dual mode DC/DCC Sountraxx decoder(unless you buy the sound model). They should sell well and I am told they got their paint samples for these units directly from NS.

The reason I bought the Athearn Ready to Roll versions, however, is that I don't model eastern roads, but these were too unique to pass up. Besides, many of the prototype will stray all over the U.S. as goodwill ambassadors for NS. My LHS gave me a real good price on them because I got all the road names they had, so that was another good reason to get them. I understand dealers are selling out quickly and Athearn doesn't have any more, either. I didn't mean to ramble, but some of us still can still rationalize "foobies" once in a while.

FYI, the NS S&A heritage SD70ACe is now making it's *third* roundtrip on a haulage rights grain train over the IAIS. So you certainly don't have to model the NS to justify these. I won't be getting any - too new for me - but I'm sure others will enjoy them. I really like how Intermountain has started sharing photos of this and other in-progress models, such as the autoracks.
Dave Date: 02/07/13 12:27 Re: Intermountain photos of body updates for NS AC GEV Author: Big_Blue_mac_attack Bought a NYC unit and i am not impressed with the drive mechanism. Noisy as heck, for 170$ not impressed at all!!!

In the overhead shot of the cab, the antenna "dome" is reminiscent of the German Cross used on military uniforms (and Hogans Heros!). Jay Date: 02/07/13 15:12 Re: Intermountain photos of body updates for NS AC GEV Author: brfriedm Big_Blue_mac_attack Wrote:

They will swap units. or you can open it up and see what's going on. Bruce Date: 02/07/13 19:43 Re: Intermountain photos of body updates for NS AC GEV Author: Big_Blue_mac_attack I will say it is a great looking unit, i think it is excessive lube in the gearboxes. I may have been a bit harsh in my original post. My apologies to intermountain!!
