Model Railroading > Intermountain Paducah GP10'sDate: 04/08/13 18:34 Intermountain Paducah GP10's Author: harrier09 I received an email today from Intermountain that had new announcements. This time is included the long awaited Paducah built GP10's. Sadly for me, this run didn't include the Ohio Central.

The new Intermountain GP 10 is very interesting...to say the least. Although it looks like this was a mid west prototype. Did any of these engines make it to the west coast on any short lines? Any info would be most appreciated. Thanks. Jere Ingram Date: 04/09/13 13:16 Re: Intermountain Paducah GP10's Author: NDHolmes UPWPFan Wrote:

You're right, they were much more common on Midwestern and Southeastern railroads in normal road service, likely due to their low horsepower and normal aspiration, but the Paducahs went everywhere after the IC offloaded them. PSAP 1002 is the only example of one in road service on the West Coast shortline that I can come up with, but I'm betting there are a few others out west as industry switch engines through companies like RSSX, WRIX, PWSX, SVGX, and the like. When I was a kid, they were just a block away from my front door, so I very well may have to pick up one or two of the red ones, along with an orange and white IC unit to patch.
Thanks, IM! - Jeff Carlson Date: 04/10/13 10:42 Re: Intermountain Paducah GP10's Author: mkt1992 Here's a partial list of Paducah rebuild owners from the IC Modelers Yahoo Group from 2011.

They did have 2 Army units on the property used to train Army personal.
Date: 04/12/13 04:27 Re: Intermountain Paducah GP10's Author: faraway My LHS is taking reservations with a deadline end of May. Delivery is scheduled in December.
I have only very little experience with Intermountain's quantities at time of shipment. Is a reservation really advised or does Intermountain "usually" flood the market and large dealers like M.B. Klein will ship from stock without problems? ps. No, I did intentionally not ask about the December date ;-) Date: 04/12/13 05:38 Re: Intermountain Paducah GP10's Author: toledopatch With Intermountain, I would recommend making a reservation. They take advance orders to inform their production volume. They overproduce a bit, under the assumption there will be post-deadline orders, but popular items can and do sell out before anything is delivered. Dealers like MB Klein may reserve for stock, but then you're at the mercy of which roadnames they think will sell to their customers.
I would not rely on the December delivery date being kept. Everything I have reserved with them has showed up later than the initial projected delivery date. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/12/13 05:39 by toledopatch. |
