Repairing a Bachman #6 crossover

These cost a arm and a leg as it is so I figure there's got to be a way to repair them, my veiw is I've spent 42 years concentrating on rolling stock now I just want to run them. thanks, Ed

cheap solenoids or switches, I plan on getting radio shack normally off momentary push buttons, but not sure what to do bout the solenoids, if any ?

set it up again and got intermittent operation, so I'm leaning toward bad slide switches,,,, Its operating now after playing with the wiring, It would help if they color coded the wires,
