Gargraves switch problems

5 of the Gargraves switch motors on my layout have gone out over the last several years. There is a whirling sound when power is applied
but the switches do not throw. Is this a common problem and is there a way to fix the machines?

The motor is runing and nothing is happening. Sounds like something has come loose or detached. Why don't you take it apart and see?
