Model Railroading > O gauge layout on 2nd floor of old SP LA Central StatiDate: 04/12/14 19:17 O gauge layout on 2nd floor of old SP LA Central Stati Author: mundo Remember as a teenager about 1948, a visit to the O gauge layout that was in a upper story room at the Old SP=UP Central Station on Alameda Street on Los Angeles.
Was the layout moved to another location, or just called out of service? What year? It was soon after that the building was torn down for a warehouse. As I remember, an operating O gauge real steam loco was operating on the layout. Was I dreaming or a fact? I never saw a real steam loco run there, but some pretty nice long trains. Peeling paint from the ceiling there also. Somewhere in my slide collection I have two slides of their operation.
