RS-1325

I have been casually looking for an HO EMD RS-1325 for some time, but I never expected to find one like this!

Yikes! Never seen one painted anything but C&IM.

I actually have one, but these KMT locos are notoriously noisy and bad runners. Mine is waiting for me to get up the ambition to cobble up a new drive out of an Athearn SW1500 and some NWSL parts. Installing DCC on the factory drive would be a challenge at best.

The best start is a P2K GP20 shell and an SW1200 shell. Probably stretch an Athearn SW1500 chassis and use the Athearn flexicoil B truck sideframes.

That is one strange looking locomotive.

The lineage goes Alco RS-1, EMD NW-3 then GMD-1. Follow that and it does not seem strange at all.

FYI - There were only 2 of these built, both belonging to the Chicago & Illinois Midland Railway. I saw one once in my Illinois days, but alas had an "accident" with that roll of film. And incredibly, at least one is still in service the last time I checked.

IMRR 30 and 31 have been in regular service for quite some time. Unfortunately IMRR 30 suffered a slow speed derailment where it laid over on its side on 3/28/14. The damage was minor and is expected to be repaired. Both have new electronics and are favorites on the railroad.

Just a thought - shortening a Rapido GMD1 chassis when they are released this summer may be an option. The Flexicoil B truck chassis will be available separately as part #10000b/10500B (DC/DCC+sound).

Very cool Hiroshi! If I were to build one of these, I'd just bash it with Proto parts. The kitbasher in me would LOVE to build one of these.
