Broadway Limited SW1500 Question
Author: Alcors32

I'am considering one of the Broadway Limited SW1500 switchers in HO, anyone familiar with how they look and run? Thanks for your time.

Great. Can you elaborate a little bit for those of us interested in these? I'm interested in sound and running qualities, not just its makeup job.

Thanks,

Chris

Wow! I did some looking around the net. They were typing
about these engines here on TO back in March of aught eight.

Their website says the first run was due this month. Second run
is due in Nov.

Did they do an Espee version with a full light cluster? I happen
to like that UFO that just landed from Mars look.

I cant speak for running quality. The sound, After reviewing it on there website, has a lot of, to me, usless junk/features, only 3 horn options as well. I like Locsound, but I would rather a Tsunami over this.

The shell itself just has a chunky look to it, especially the way oversized horn and front grille.

For the price, I would rather the Athearn. It has much finer details, can be had for around 75$, the downside is no sound.

Looks pretty clunky to me... But everyone has their opinion, and thats why we post here! Just like the good old Athearn SD70ACE vs. MTH SD70ACE war.... who is better? Who cares?!

Yes, as stated above they are out and arriving at the LHS most shops should have them by the end of next week.

These are solid locomotives. Broadway does use their own DCC Sound System but it has always sounded great in their AC6000's and SD40-2.

Quality looks good in comparison with other recent HO Broadway releases.

And your right you have the Athearn switchers that are just arriving but they are Ready To Run not Genesis so no sound and the Atlas Gold Series with DCC and Sound that arrived about 3 months ago and are still in the stores. So you do have choices.

Not sure about the particular SW1500, however I have a number of BLI switchers and use them all the time. Sound is great and performance is also good. You can see one in action on my Sweetwater layout at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdeJWFr_PGE Turn up the sound and enjoy.
