Model Railroading > Atlas C420 Soundtraxx/QSI SwapDate: 09/30/14 18:28 Atlas C420 Soundtraxx/QSI Swap Author: jburek I'd like to swap the factory installed QSI sound decoder for a Soundtraxx Tsunami AT1000 251C sound decoder. What I thought would be a simple swap looks more involved than I thought after looking under the hood. Lots of extra "stuff" on the QSI board than there is on the Tsunami board including what looks like 2 capacitors. Anyone have experience with this? Any advice appreciated - thanks...

I swapped a QSI for a Tsunami in a Dash 8-40C and the only wires I had to deal with were the rail pickups, speaker, and lights. These are typically on the end of the board. Any capacitors needed should be hard-wired to the board. Good luck, and I think you will be pleased with the results!
