Mr. MRL Date: 10/01/14 15:20 Re: New HO GP60's for SP/SSW fans... Author: SP_8299 Hmmm, that Speed Lettered unit is tempting.
They can keep the patch job. :-p Date: 10/01/14 17:07 Re: New HO GP60's for SP/SSW fans... Author: obsessedfoamer I would wait for those Fox Valley one's, or whoever the "Mystery" manufacturer is. I'm sure they will blow these away.

Author: tgcostello I own 4 Life Like P2K GP60s, operating them regularly on the La Mesa Tehachapi Pass RR in San Diego. They are nicely detailed and good runners.
That said, I've seen the Fox Valley GP60s at the Saint Louis RPM Meet in August. They appear to be superior on a tooling and detail basis. It looks like Walthers is hoping to drum up some sales for these models before Fox Valley hits the market with theirs. Tim Costello Date: 10/02/14 10:30 Re: New HO GP60's for SP/SSW fans... Date: 10/02/14 15:39 Re: New HO GP60's for SP/SSW fans... Author: EspeeGoldenState Actually they are doing two patch jobs and two regular speed lettered.
The two the OP original listed and: Southern Pacific(TM) #9766 (gray, red, white, speed lettering) Walthers Part # 920-41814 Union Pacific(R) #2005 (SSW(TM) Patch) Walthers Part # 920-41816 I wouldn't mind either of the patch jobs, but the nose artwork isn't correct on the Walthers site. I'll just wait for the FVM models. Here's hoping that when Matt does do the UP versions that he does some Baby Wings with the red sill stripes as well as some patch jobs. The SP Speed Letter GP60's were handsome engines, especially at a time when SP's power had deteriorated to awful standards so were a welcome sight! I tend to prefer SP (and D&RGW) in their classic pre-merger look, so for the most part I'm staying pre-1991 (pre-patch and pre-ditch lights) for modeling purposes. I only have one D&RGW GP60 as it is - an original run Walther's model. Cheers, Jim Fitch Date: 10/03/14 07:29 Re: New HO GP60's for SP/SSW fans... Author: DuneCoon You would think they would pick the patched number to be in line with the latest UP GP60 renumbering program.
