What you have there is the Atlas Drive for the SDP35. I would suggest you already did the work of swapping out the sideframes but then forgot about it, as those sideframes are not original to that drive.

Yes, there is a NMRA 8-pin plug on the board there, just need to remove the dummy plug and plug in a decoder with the 8-pin plug.

Actually that is a dual decoder that Atlas had in a lot of there drives. There is a 6 outlet plug there. The flat plug has 4 male parts that plugged into 4 of the 6 outlets. Plug it in forward and it is DCC the other way regular DC.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
I figured what I did.I had two Atlas
SAL SDP35's without sound.I bought
the ACL SDP35 with sound.I took that
frame and put it under one of the SAL
units. The SAL one is in the picture.
Later,when Soundtraxx came out with
a turbo 567,I put it in the other SAL
unit.
So now, after changing side frames I
have the correct ACL frame.BUT AFTER
all this the unit would still do nothing.
I took apart the front truck and two
axles were corroded to the brass bar
that connects the wheels.I have NO clue
why that happened. It took a lot of WD40
and filing to get the axles loose. Now
I am going to check the rear truck for
problems also.

This is why I stick file cards in the boxes of this kind of project -- write down the plans, article references, parts installed or needed, decal numbers etc. Saves me a lot of fumbling when a project gets revived.
