Model Railroading > Celotex tank carsDate: 10/19/14 22:20 Celotex tank cars Author: TT Does anybody have any information regarding what was carried in Celotex tank cars and where they might be transiting to/from?
Thanks, Ted Date: 10/20/14 07:21 Re: Celotex tank cars Author: penncentral74 Until about 10 years ago, Cincinnati OH had a Celotex plant in Maplewood OH, between Carthage and Lockland. The back of the plant was adjacent to a small B&O yard named, appropriately, Maplewood. Celotex was a re-branding of an old Cincinnati-based company called The Philip Carey Company.
Carey made asphalt roofing paper (roofing felt) and asphalt shingles. You could see those cars in Maplewood yard, and it's very likely that they carried asphalt. Date: 10/20/14 18:40 Re: Celotex tank cars Author: TT Good info, thanks very much.
