Regards, Bobby Date: 04/16/15 14:15 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: wabash2800 Hey, now you can use one of your HO cars as a reference to restore this one! <G> And perhaps you can convince the Canadian authorities that your investment in this car is a business expense and tax deductible? <G>

Cheers, Harry Date: 04/16/15 15:20 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: CPR_4000 Nice, but the weathering's a little overdone, no?
Date: 04/16/15 17:51 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: SPED You need to get a room.
OH! Maybe there's one inside, keep it "G" rated. Ed Date: 04/16/15 19:14 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: rapidotrains CPR_4000 Wrote:

Maybe we should offer passenger car models with rust patches and water-logged plywood on the windows! It's a 4-8-4 sleeper, so plenty of rooms on board.... :-) -Jason Date: 04/16/15 19:27 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: joeygooganelli What are your plans with the car? Are you gonna put it at a tourist road or try and make it roadworthy to ride behind VIA and Amtrak trains?
Joe Date: 04/16/15 21:07 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: rschonfelder Your wife is going to kick you out sooner or later.
Rick Date: 04/16/15 21:09 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: ChrisCampi Welcome to the money pit! And the maddening world of rail preservation.

But it's worth it! :-) Our plan is to restore it for use on a tourist railway, and if we can get it up north by the end of June it can be in limited service as early as September . Upgrading to VIA or Amtrak standards is possible in the future. -Jason Date: 04/17/15 07:45 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: NSTopHat Jason;
Congrats! Where here in Georgia did you come to get that baby? Regards, Russ Goodwin Buford, GA Date: 05/09/15 08:47 Re: Expanding beyond HO scale Author: djansson The fun is just beginning. I'm guessing that you'll go throyugh at least 20,000 lbs of sand to blast off all that paint and rust, THEN a lot of sheet metal work and bondo just to get the outside ready for primer (assuming you take out all the indopws and clean up the corrosion around them plus the vesitbuke - but that's another story altogether).
God only knows what the interior looks like. The GOOD news is that the car is HEP'ed (thank you VIA!!!) , so you don' have to worry about steam piping and the car wiring could be in decent shape. G O O D L U C K W I T H Y O U R N E W P R O J E C T. |
