NTS: Quiet change?
Author: rschonfelder

It seems to me that when a NTS was on, TO would be inundated with discussion and photos.  It seems awfully quiet.

Agree, the silence is perplexing!

I suppose there will be a video tour at modelrailroader.com with the gang, which means that Cody won't be doing his monthly thing this month. I see that they already have some new product reports on the site from the show.

Model Railroader's website (mrr.trains.com) has extensive information, and surprisingly, it's not behind a paywall. In fact, it's the same info (with pix) that was posted here a few days ago and then taken down.

Was looking for that post.   It had a lot in there.   Why was it removed?

I have noticed this habit of using short forms when describing topics/locations.

I too scratch my head sometimes over the military type descriptions.

Personally, I think it's just that the NTS announcements I've seen so far just don't pertain to my modeling.  I'm at that point in layout construction where I don't expect to buy a lot more unless specific prototypes are offered (e.g. early Trinity/RTC-type 4750cf covered hoppers), so while I'm sure there are those who are excited about things like the Athearn GP39-2 announcement, they're just not a fit for me.

I wonder if we'll see this more in the future, as so many of the prototypes have already been covered well in model form.  Most of what's left are units that only pertain to a handful of roads if that, so there are fewer opportunities for manufacturers to offer models that really get the masses excited.

I thought the show was quiet also,The GP39-2 from Athearn is not a surprise as they said they were doing all GP38-60 in -2s how many years ago!  I like the Athearn news but thought they would have more like sound tunnel motors,SP passenger GP9 in gray/red or the GP40P-2. The highlight for me is the Wheels or Time SP flat/bulkhead car. I am surprised that this car has not been done before & hope they do both bulkheads as lots of these on the NWP in the (80s-90s) good all days.

Copyright infringement, I'd think. Taking a bit here and there would be fair use, but copying and pasting the whole thing was taking too much.

Joe, whats the old saying ... you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.  That is definitely very true of the model RR hobby.

I've seen a number of models announced that I am very interested - the Tangent PS3 hopper, the Atlas box cars, and the Wheels of Time bulkhead flat cars.  The 1970's pickup looks like a good one for the be-level racks but at a pretty penny I"m sure.  Tangent has really been pumping out a lot of great models lately!

Cheers, Jim
