Rob Sarberenyi is a HO SP modeler that has produced some conversion parts to model specific Alcos. His latest conversion is the Dynamic Brake housing that was a standard option for many railroads - including ATSF, SP, BN, NP, N&W, PRR, FCP and NdeM.

Dynamic Brake Parts for HO Scale Alco RS-3s and RSD-5s
Some of you may be aware that Rob Sarberenyi offered HO scale cast brass parts to represent the "garbage can" large spark arrestor stack found on some Southern Pacific Alco RSD-5s

Rob is following up now with another brass part: Alco's late type dynamic brake housing and louvers in HO scale. With a few careful cuts, adding dynamic brakes to Alco RS-3 or RSD-5 models is easy! See photos below.

This style of d/b feature was located on the short hood of many Alco RS-3s and RSD-5s.

Applications for this type dynamic brake:
Alco RS-3s : Norfolk & Western, Northern Pacific, Burlington Northern, Pennsylvania (PRR)*
Alco RSD-5s with this type d/b: Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Ferrocarril del Pacifico (FCP), Nationales de Mexico (NdeM)

Nice parts! I would certainly use them when doing a brass RSD-5.

Note that Chris Meyers has offered  both HO & S scale 3-D printed db-equipped short nose roof and nose (w/full light package) as used by SP on Shapeways for some time, although he still lists them as Beta releases. He also offers the roofs by thenselves. Maybe somebody has tried them?
