Rapido all-new product launch: St. Patrick's Day
Author: rapidotrains

Hi all,

We'll be launching an all-new product line on St. Patrick's Day (my birthday, coincidentally!). This is the first release in a new series, and it is not a "variation" of an existing product.

All I can say at this point is that it should be of interest both to Canadians and Americans.

The launch will be made in our newsletter. You can sign up from our web site.

Best regards,

Jason

Coud it be that, or the "Draper Tapers" or "Red Barns"?

With Bowser already doing an SD40-2F "Red Barn," I wouldn't expect Rapido to do that, but an SD50F/SD60F would fit what they say they're doing.

Unless again Jason mis-shaped the black to trow us off, that right top square bulge b ehind a very square cab with the Horn of the as-built version still between the from window (pointy bulge) looks to me like the air filter sqaure awning of an SD40-2W,
I would not go competing with the Athearn GP40-2w that is excellent and flooded the market,so leave  the  SD  which was only made by IMR who screwed big time the cab (despite having been warned at Speingfield...)
And there is a lot of them now in the US. so business wise, covers all the business avenues, and many variant for a long production
If not it, well Jason get on it for these very reasons
my quick guess

Well, I think my hope for an EP 5 is gone for this introduction.  I am unaware of an EP 5 that made it North of Connecticut.

Stil looking forward to NH items that are in the pipe line for N scale.

Thank-you Jason and Rapido!!

They look like an M420(leader)  and an HR-MLW version of the draper units (Trailing).

I sure hope so....for my AND Joe's sake...lol

I'm not going to assume anything just yet, but if these ARE M420/M420Rs...

Unfortunately for me, at least two of the IAIS's three M420Rs spent their last year or so dead in storage.  One stayed active until near the end as the primary switcher of the yard I model, so that's a good thing.  But I already modeled that one.  From a modeling standpoint, do I purchase the other two just to model them in storage, as is the case with the upcoming Intermountain GP10s?  With M420Rs, it'd be awfully tempting to fudge a bit on that point.

It's interesting how almost everyone is just trying to guess the lead loco, with only one person so far actually noticing the #2, which is what y'all should really be paying attention to.  Because this kind of subtle subterfuge is quintissential Rapido Jason.

Or the tilted blacked out boxes to the right.

I noticed those, but as they're not rolling stock or motive power, they've been less interesting for most folks.  It wouldn't surprise me if part of the larger "line of products" announcement includes additional ROW scenery details.  Or it could just be that someone installed mirrors next to the track and Jason blacked them out :)

My guess is that those relay cases (or whatever they are) had markings on them indicating where the photo was taken, which might serve as a clue about the equipment.

Picture was taken in Havelock Ontario for sure. Those black bins along the tracks are garbage cans. I attached a picture I took last summer. you can see one half way up on the left. As for the year not sure? Could be a GP22-ECO, RS18u, C424, GP38-2? 3 more sleeps till we find out!

It's a GEVO, to compete with Athearn, MTH, Intermountain, and Walthers.
