Chalk Drawings in the Transition Era
Author: BN7023

When I looked at the large gondola of WrongWayMurphy, I remembered a certain decal.
http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,4012900

It has attached to the kit manufactured by Hobbyline in the 1950s.
Anyone use these things?
Since one-third of the white printing of the decal, this portion was black-and-white inverted in the following image.
"KILROY WAS HERE," "CISCO KID," "BOZO TEXINO" and more. Is it the Champ?

The quality more resembles Walthers when they were oad-printing instead of silk-sceening decalcomania sheets

It was Champ Decals.

Clearly I used some of these, back in my O scale days.

Thank you for the information.
Does Walthers' one mean "pad-printing"?

Once I searched the word of "scribblings" in the 75-year DVD of the MR magazine, 2 ads are found.
One is the Champ Feb. 1946 issue, the other is the Walthers Jan. 1947 issue.

A scribbling I don't see here is one I recall from the 1980's that I think was from someone in Texas.  This was before all the tagging of today and was a chalk single-line of a slightly tipped wine goblet with slosh of liquid and seems it had mabe a persons name beneath it like "Pete".  I seemed often to appear on Santa Fe grain hoppers and I think was in yellow or white chalk.  I always pictured it being someone who worked the cars in a grain terminal but probably will never know.
