Model Railroading > Nice B&O Tunnel Fronts by Alkem Scale ModelsDate: 06/24/16 08:25 Nice B&O Tunnel Fronts by Alkem Scale Models Author: globalethanol Finally got around to assembling the tunnel fronts for my Cumberland Sub layout. These are made of clear acrylic plastic and require assembly. After assembly I sandblasted them with 100 grit aluminum oxide and painted them with Testor`s Model Master acrylics. I made the liners by cutting out and laminating pieces of inch thick foam. I filled in the seems with lightweight spackle and sanded with 400 grit paper. the liners were attached to the back of the portals with 3M transfer tape. I used a few different shades of weathering to make it to the final result. Bernard Kempinski also made a custom 3 track portal for the tunnel at Harper`s Ferry, W.Va. form a scale drawing. Alkem Scale models makes a variety of fronts for other railroads also. Check them out.
