Model Railroading > New paint on the Pelham TerminalDate: 07/04/16 19:15 New paint on the Pelham Terminal Author: sixaxlecentury Never was a big fan of the original paint scheme for my layout, so this past week it was redesigned and put right to work.
1 - PTR 1500 crossing New Lots Ave. with empty boxcars for Atlantic Waste. 2- Heading down New Lots now, and servicing MVP Warehousing. 1500 recieved a Loksound 4.0 decoder, TCS KA1 Keep Alive and LED lighting. Still waiting for parts for the Stratolite. 3 - Leased MP15DC heading back to the yard down Nostrand Ave. after dropping cars for Conrail. Edited 1 time(s). I never want to do that again!
5 - Hack 123 after its paint job. Running on the streets every day is giving that new paint a test however. 6 - RS1 7434 and SW1000 1000, sitting at the shop after being painted for the first time. These are now in the shop for overhauls and repaints now. Date: 07/04/16 19:32 Re: New paint on the Pelham Terminal Author: tehachapi-dave Great looking engines you have. That second paint scheme definitely looks more practical with black below the frame instead of bright red. Great work!

I too could use 5 or 6 pairs of the old 'replaced bearing' sideframes, as Conrail used those on many of their MOW gons, flats, and hoppers. Are these commercially made? ~RGDave Date: 07/05/16 10:22 Re: New paint on the Pelham Terminal Author: sixaxlecentury A few companies make/made them.
The nicest looking ones by far are the Rapido ones. http://rapidotrains.com/ho-scale-freight-car-trucks/#barb3 Roundhouse made them, called "Convertable Bettendorf Trucks", which is what these are. They also came with the journal box covers as seperate pieces. Eastern Car Works made them, but they are junk. And, a canadian company also made them recently, although I dont recall who. They were mounted on a blue blisterpack, and also had the seperate box covers like the Roundhouse ones (Same mold maybe?). Thanks for the comments. I grew up in Pelham Manor through my sophomore year in high school, so I look at every thread you post about this layout. Keep 'em coming. |
