How does one remove the coating on...micro-LEDs?
Author: Frank30

Never used these micro-LEDs before. They came with resistor in place.  How does one shorten the length of the leads?
How do you remove the coating, thinner, or solder and heat??   Is this whats referred to as "magnet wire"?
Any suggestions are welcome.

The magnet wire does have a varnish on them. Just cut them to length then "tin" the ends with solder. The heat melts the varnish.

Yep. This also is the way I do it.

Agree with the "tinning" option, but in a pinch you can also take a Xacto/hobby knife and scratch the varnish off the ends, "Tinning" is the easier method.

Like the other guys said usually running the wire through a blob of molten solder on the soldering iron works to remove the coating. However it does depend on the particular wire, I had one batch of magnet wire where this did not work, on that stuff I had to use the barbecue lighter to burn it off then cleaned up the wire with a bit of 600 grit sandpaper.

Or you can lay the end of the wire on your workbench for support and stroke off the enamel with a fine grit paper or sanding stick; 2-3 strokes is enough then roll it over about 1/4  and repeat.
Working around blobs of melted solder hurts sometimes....
