Model Railroading > Penn Central/New Haven Commuter TrainDate: 10/17/16 19:04 Penn Central/New Haven Commuter Train Author: kecarden In the process of re-doing a Rapido Penn Central yellow bird in it faded colors and patch panels, just started this project last week and of cause you remember the other unit that I did, but took sometime off from it. But now since the New Haven 8600 coach's are out I will now completed the project for the New York to Danbury train the way I use to see it coming thru Mt Verson train station during rush-hour with a 8 to 10 mix NH and PC coach's with a grill car. Even through I model Conrail I also love the New Haven too and Penn Central. I will also do lot's of weathering on the coach's too when they look worn out.
The yellow has been redone with a very faded custom yellow that I mix up also do some of the panels in conrail blue, the picture is to light to see it, but once I get done with the wreathing and things you see the 2 different blues Date: 10/18/16 02:18 Re: Penn Central/New Haven Commuter Train Author: calsubd Did the NH FL9's get so bad that the number boards weren't replaced or did you leave them off on purpose ?, also I don't remember the red on the trucks, is / was that "as built" ? TIA Ed

TIA Ed The "red" on the trucks is the third rail shoes. Date: 10/18/16 05:19 Re: Penn Central/New Haven Commuter Train Author: herronpeter Nice looking "Fleabags" you have there. When I worked at Amtrak in Rensselaer, NY that was their nickname-derived from the FL. Somehow fleabag seemed more apropos than FLorida! LOL.
Peter Date: 10/18/16 06:38 Re: Penn Central/New Haven Commuter Train Author: tmurray The red thing is a wooden beam that supports the 3rd rail shoe. They started life red, and finished in a much more filthy state with little red left.
