Model Railroading > MTH HO operating crossingsDate: 12/07/16 08:40 MTH HO operating crossings Author: Chestnut I just purchased a MTH HO scale operating crossing gate set off eBay. I've searched some YouTube videos to get an idea how it installs. Does anyone have these on your layout? Any thoughts or advice before I install it? They seem pretty nice, but I've heard issues with the photo sensor wires being too short. Thank you!

Are you happy with their products? We will be looking at using their signals on our layout soon.
Perhaps this weekend I will video the gates and post them here. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 12/07/16 17:39 Re: MTH HO operating crossings Author: dgraves I use Azatrak infared crossing detectors with NJ crossing signals. Really like their products.

The original question never got a chance. And something which may be interesting to lots of folks gets buried in an MTH thread. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/08/16 04:42 by Lighter. See his video. Link below. Just not sure if TO will remove it. It's called Review of the MTH HO scale Operating Crossing Gates Go for it. Bruce https://youtu.be/cW5oB4w0AWo Edited 1 time(s). I understand how to install them I was more inquiring about advice before installing, adjustment, opinions regarding the system etc...

Some people can't dance and have two left feet...when it comes to model railroading I feel I have two left hands. Oh well, I fight my way through what I can. To the OP: They are easy to install, and they work fairly well. One thing I did that isn't on the video is extend the sensor wire. They are simply too short unless you're running a train at 3 scale mph or less. I have attached a picture from my current layout where they are still going strong 6 1/2 years after my review video.
