Who said the world is flat? I did.
Author: WrongWayMurphy

A new industrial park was built adjacent to the Texas &Gulf main line.

There is not much, if any, room for even a traditional Walthers type background building but It needed
customers so I printed these extreme flat buildings on paper, then spray glued them to a cut piece of project
foam board.  I added little pieces of 3 dimensional roof and a skinny loading dock to give some depth to the flattie.

I will probably do something similar all along the edge, but I can't encroach on the aisle any deeper, else the
guy in the chair switching the town in the back will run out of room and might spill his beer.  There are 3 spots on this
track and I pity the crew that will have to dig out or spot a box car on the end of the other two are occupied.

Interesting concept, flat buildings against the edge of the layout. I would be still tempted to put a 8" tall backdrop along the edge to help protect the buildings if it's easy enough to reach over.

Here is photo of the layout room.  Note the roof slope left and right.  This room is upstairs in what we
call The Shed.  That slope presented a challenge in using all the available space, so the tracks are low
Hence the operators on both sides perform their task while in a rolling chair.  As you can imagine from pics
here they have their work cut out for them.  Lufkin in pic two, Fort Worth in pic three.

Here is The Shed back behind our home.

Second photo below the train room upstairs houses 1.5" scale trains and workshop.

Third photo is model train work room.

Mrs Murphy is right, I really need to clean up the Shed one day.

You have made tremendous progress! It doesn't seem like it was that long ago when you moved.

Shane,
I have a similar room that I have been considering building a railroad in. What is the height from the floor to where the slope of the ceiling starts?

Shed doesn't need cleaning from what I see.  Never take a Mrs. seriously when it comes to cleaning train rooms!

No time to get into trouble with with what you have going on in that shed.
