Tsunami2 TSU-PNP lighting
Author: fbe

I am doing an installation of the drop in version of this decoder and would like to use some led lighting. The solder points are all set up for 1.5 incandescent bulbs.

I cannot find the installation manual for this PNP version at the soundtraxx site and the packaging has nothing beyond the 1.5v lighting. Does anyone have information for alternative lighting or a link for the installation manual for the TSU-PNP?

Thanks.

I found out the hard way the light output on tabs 2/3 and 6/7 are track voltage outputs so if you use these contacts with a resistor you can get the 3 volt led voltage. There is a 1.5 volt tab which replaces the blue wire lighting connections if you want to use the Tsunami2 decoders on Genesis or RTR locomotives.

This is a very versitile decoder for lighting.

The manual is right there on the Soundtraxx site:

Use a 1K Ohm resister for each LED and you will be fine.

Larry,

I was using the index rather than reading through each of the 80+ pages. This manual is somewhat different than the old installation guides. The hard card packaging has instructions for the 1.5v connections but no warning about resistors for leds for the main connections.

Yes, actually I got the information on the resistors from both Soundtraxx and from Walthers (I'm replacing factory boards in some Walthers SP SD9s).

These are for the ECO-PNP but wiring is the same for TSU2-PNP.
