Model Railroading > D&RGW 01501 with Plano Roof walk

Well. I must say these Plano #456 roof walks are SWEET! And a dream to work with.
Now I just have to paint the roof silver, raise the cupola six scale inches, oxidize the roof, weather it a bit, and it will be done!
I just have five more to go!

Looks good, but you need to change out the boat anchor chains on the platforms.

Where did you find the info for the cupola height?

The other thing besides raising the cupola height is correcting the side windows to match the differently shaped D&RGW gasket seal windows.

Here are some prototype photos of the 01500 - 01514 D&RGW caboose. The Grande Gold over Silver single stripe scheme states the the roof is silver, with a 4 inch black stripe along the roof line. The roofs of several models are painted black, as that;s the color they appeared after several trips through the tunnels. You can see that the cupola stands higher than other extended vision cabooses.
Only one of these photos are mine. I got the other two from the internet.

Good info. So this scheme is referred to as orange with one black stripe, no reference to the silver band? All I could find on my end of the internet was the all orange scheme. The UtahRails table is very interesting.

It will be interesting to see how the cupola works out. The BN roads had all sorts of variations as well, Moloco has a number of caboose parts to make use of. Thanks for posting.

The paint scheme on the 01501 is refered to as the sigle stripe scheme. I have heard some refer to it ar the Orange over silver scheme.
Moloco is all out of the parts that would help raise the cupola.

To the best of my knowledge the roofs were silver. They took on a black appearance after traveling thru the many tunnels.
